Foreign Minister attends international conference

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ Foreign Affairs Minister D.Tsogtbaatar and Member of Parliament J.Enkhbayar are attending the International conference on ‘The role of parliamentarians in boosting economic cooperation and cultural ties along the silk road’ on March 13-14 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The conference is being organized by the Milli Mejlis (National Assembly) of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Silk Road Support Group, and brings together high-level members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE PA), along with a number of foreign ministers, speakers of parliament and heads of international organizations.
On the first of the conference, the Minister D.Tsogtbaatar delivered a speech. In his speech, he highlighted the historical role of Great Mongolian Empire in the development of Silk Road and said that Mongolian government supports modern initiatives to restore the Silk Road, especially China’s ‘Belt and Road’ initiative. “Restoring and developing the Silk Road is significant to develop not only trade and economy, but also culture, humanity and inter-citizen relationship,” emphasized the Minister.
He also proposed to create a scholarship for promising young diplomats and researchers who made new initiatives and proposals within the restoration of the Silk Road.
