Ulaanbaatar winter festival takes place succesfully

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Annual Ulaanbaatar winter festival took place in the National Park on February 2-4. The festival was co-organized by the Governor’s Office of Capital city and the Ulaanbaatar City Tourism Department.

Opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Mayor J.Batbayasgalan, Chairwoman of the National Park S.Erdenetuul, head of the Ulaanbaatar city Tourism Department D.Batsukh, citizens and tourists. This year, archers from China and Russia challenged their  accuracy in the championship despite the cold weatherl.

Opening the winter festival, Deputy Mayor for Green Development and Air Pollution J.Batbayasgalan thanked the  guests, families, youth for participation and wished them successes.

"In the action plan of Mayor of Ulaanbaatar City for 2016-2020, we set an aim to make Ulaanbaatar city as the Northeast Asian tourism center. In this light, we are striving for developing winter tourism in Ulaanbaatar city," J.Batbayasgalan said, adding that the festival was successfully organized last year, and the tourism sector of Mongolia has moved forward.

He also expressed hopes that Ulaanbaatar Winter Festival will promote winter tourism in Mongolia, help public to learn and play traditional games and augment the number of foreign tourists and become famous international winter festival.

Held for the fifth year, the Ulaanbaatar Winter Festival – 2018 was organized with aims to develop special interest tourism, expand tourism season, augment the number of tourists visiting Ulaanbaatar in winter time and promote Mongolian traditional winter games. Traditionally, the festival is celebrated on the first weekend of February.

Ulaanbaatar Winter Festival is significant to promote Mongolian tradition, culture and traditional games to tourists. Other than that, it is aimed to introduce and support traditional and newly developing sports and new types of tourism to citizens of Ulaanbaatar city.
