Renowned dancer Nanjid's 70th anniversary being celebrated

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The 70 anniversary of Honored Phd D.Nanjid, State Honored Artist of Mongolia, will be celebrated between November 28 and December 04.

In the scope of the anniversary various events will be organized including scientific conference themed “D.Nanjid Study”, a book and documentary launching ceremony, the 6th dance competition entitled “Mongolian traditional dance and inheritance of bii biyelgee” and gala concert.

D.Nanjid is one of the first professional dancers as well as a choreographer, researcher and inheritor. She played in more than 300 dance plays, performing as a lead dancer for 40, besides composing choreography of over 280 dances over 70 years. 

Research works on Mongolian traditional dance, precisely bii biyelgee developed thanks to D.Nanjid’s efforts. Other than that, she created her own dance training technique so-called “D.Nanjid’s Mongolian traditional dance training” based on her rich experiences. She has contributed to training higher education professionals in dance art by formulating dance class curriculum, applying many elements of Bii biyelgee dance in the trainings since she started teaching in the Mongolian National University of Art and Culture in 1993.

D.Nanjid trained hundreds of students, including famous dancers Bayarbaatar, State Honored Cultural Figure, D.Enkhgerel, State Honored Artist and Dr D.Bekhbat. Her books, handbooks, scientific papers are being used as valuable materials in dance trainings, choreography and research works. She also made invaluable contribution to register Mongolian traditional dance bii biyelgee in the UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage in 2010 as well asto promote Mongolian traditional dance throughout the world with her performance in international competitions, concerts and festivals.
