Working group aims to find and verify historic sites

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A Parliamentary Standing Committee's working group designated to determine and validate historic sites and birthplaces of Khaans met on October 31.

The working group was formed on November 2, 2016, by a resolution issued by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Security and Foreign Policy, with a purpose of determining the locations of birthplaces of Mongolian Khaans and historic sites, and proposing a report inclusive of foreign promotion strategies of these places to the Standing Committee.

MP L.Oyun-Erdene, Chief of the working group, chaired the meeting and delivered a report on the project ‘2017-2018 Study on Locating and Validating Historic Sites from the Mongol Empire’.

The project aimed to determine the locations of places of historical significance, cited in the Secret History of the Mongols, with basis on the long-standing researches and works of scientists and historians, run a discussion among scholars and verify the locations, and furthermore facilitate new tourism products and services.

The study was undertaken by the Institute of History and Archaeology of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences with participation of representatives of other corresponding organizations.

MP L.Oyun-Erdene spoke of possibilities of addressing finance for the 2018 research as the 2018 budget is currently under Parliamentary discussion, and said he will be conveying his suggestion to the Standing Committee.
