Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry B.Batzorig received I.K.Azizov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation, on October 30.

“Within a program to improve health of livestock, Russia pledged to provide humanitarian assistance of 4.2 million doses vaccines for prevention of bovine foot-and-mouth disease. In the first turn, Mongolia has received 2.6 million doses of FMD vaccines. The remaining or 1.6 million doses of FMD vaccines is being requested to provide within first quarter of 2018,” said B. Batzorig.

Also, the Russian side agreed to sell farming techniques and equipment worth USD10 million under the condition of soft loan of Russia’s Development Bank. As a result, the Mongolian side received a first part of the equipment late August, 2017. In connection with it, the Minister expressed a request to continue the purchase of farming techniques and equipment within the project.

Due to climatic drought condition that covered overall territory of Mongolia last summer, crops have declined by certain percent. Now Mongolia needs to import 225.0 thousand tons of wheat, 51.0 thousand tons of fodder, and 6000 tons of wheat grain. Regarding the matter, Russian ambassador was requested to render support to Mongolia by building a favorable condition of purchase agreement and supporting imports in prevention of price boosts.

In the end of the meeting, B.Batzorig expressed his confidence that the Russian side will cooperate actively on decreasing and facilitating tariff and non-tariff barriers on Mongolian products and raw materials of food, agriculture and light industries, and on elevating bilateral friendly relations and cooperation in agriculture into a new level.
