Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh appreciated a South Korean Government’s decision to grant a soft loan of USD 500 million in the framework of the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Extended Fund Facility, as well as for its valuable contribution to strengthen Mongolia’s democracy and develop market economy.

At October 27 meeting with U Sung, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, the Prime Minister also underlined, “One of Mongolia’s foreign policy priorities is to boost friendly relations and cooperation with the Republic of Korea, our third neighbor and important partner in the Asia Pacific. We keep a continuity of foreign policy and widen comprehensive partnership relations with the country in all aspects.”

“High-level reciprocal visits need to be regularized to boost bilateral relations and cooperation. Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea visited Mongolia in 2015. As a Prime Minister of Mongolia, I am planning to visit the country. The Mongolian Government is for long-period constant relations and cooperation, in particular on elevating trade and economic cooperation into a new level,” he added.

He also expressed Mongolia’s anticipation to establish a Free Trade Agreement with the Republic of Korea, waiting for positive results from a joint working group that is currently carrying out relevant study.

“Promotion of businesses and development of investment and cooperation that are fruitful to both sides are in need. The Mongolian Government has a policy to develop agriculture, farming and small and medium-sized enterprises, except mining; therefore it is fully possible to cooperate in farming to export pure ecological products and vegetables,” he pointed out.

“The most numbers, as compared with other countries, or over 30 thousand Mongolians stay in the Republic of Korea. Inter-citizen travels of two countries are considerably rising. Thus, it leads us to collaborate on facilitating travel conditions and increasing air transportation frequency between two countries,” said PM.
