Ministers address national forum on reduction of air pollution

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Speeches were delivered by U.Khurelsukh, Prime Minister, D.Sarangerel, Health Minister, N.Tserenbat, Environment and Tourism Minister and others at a national forum on reduction of air pollution  started Tuesday in the State House.

The event concentrated on activating actions to respond air pollutions in urban places, increasing public involvement, and determining long, medium and short-term policies and actions that have to be implemented by the Government..

In anticipation of the national forum, three panel meetings took place, namely; ‘Sollutions to air-pollution in ger areas’ on October 18, ‘Air pollution created by motor vehicles and other environment pollutions’ on October 19, and ‘Decentralization and decisive actions’ on October 20.

Events of the national forum involved a total of around 1600 participants from relevant government organizations, universities and scientific institutes, international organizations, Federal Environment Agency of Germany, German-Mongolian Institute for Resource and Technology, ‘Association of Mothers and Fathers against Smoke’ NGO, Maidar Project, ‘Eco Club’ NGO and UB citizens, conducting a broad-range of discussions on seeking solutions to reduce air pollution.

The forum was concluded with an issuance of recommendation. The recommendation asserts actions to be taken in improving legal environment to reduce air pollution, reducing air pollution of the capital city in the nearest future, as well as introducing housing program in ger areas and decentralizing the capital city.
