Mongolian surgeon O.Sergelen awarded Honorary Fellowship

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Professor O.Sergelen, Head of the Surgery Department of the Mongolian National University of Medical Science and Head of the National Liver Transplant Team, was awarded with Honorary Fellowship in the American College of Surgeons (ACS), on October 21.
This year, over 70 surgeons competed for the Honorary Fellowship, of which 10 prominent surgeons received the award from around the world.
“My achievement proves that Mongolian surgeons have enough potential to be competitive at the world field. It is a great honor to receive this award alongside Professor Masatoshi Makuuchi, who is a mentor of my teacher Professor Lee. I feel proud of myself, my country and colleagues,” she said.
O.Sergelen is one of three female surgeons in Mongolia to achieve the degree of Doctor of Science and many surgeons have been prepared under her mentorship. She also first introduced laparoscopy and liver transplant surgeries in Mongolia.
