Project on special road bus to be implemented

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A project on special road bus will be implemented until 2023 through the Asian Development Bank (ADB) with technical assistance of China.
In the frameworks of the project, 42.5 km roads will be constructed on vertical line of the capital city. Moreover, works will be done to repair 57 km roads, make expansion 10 road junctions and 146 buses will enter into the public transport on special roads.
Chairman of the Citizens’ Representative Khural (Council) S.Amarsaikhan met the project team and heard information on the project’s implementation course. He said that the capital city administration fully support this project that will introduce a safe and smart system in the public transportation service.
The public transport makes up less than 1 per cent of total vehicles in the traffic of Ulaanbaatar, yet over 60 per cent or 700 thousand people use the public transport every day. It is expected the number of vehicles in Ulaanbaatar will reach 970 thousand by 2020.
As implementing the project, the traveling time of the public transport will reduce by 20-40 per cent and the GPS system will be entirely introduced in the vehicles, thus negative impact on environment will decline by 70-80 percent.
