Asian aerobic gymnasts to compete in Ulaanbaatar

ULAANBAATAR /MONTSAME/. The 6th Asian Aerobic Gymnastics Championships will take place at the Buyant-Ukhaa Sport Complex in Ulaanbaatar on September 12-18.

Over 210 athletes from 10 countries are expected to compete in the tournament in three age categories of 12 to 14, 15-17 and above 18 in the divisions of individual women, individual men, mixed pairs, trios, groups, step and dance. As of today, ten countries have applied for the forthcoming tournament. China will be represented in the competitions by 19 athletes, India--21, Japan 15, South Korea--15, the Philippines--10, Iran--eight, Uzbekistan--six. The largest number of team will be Mongolia as the host with 70 athletes. Mongolia is followed by Vietnam with 31 athletes.

Some people were invited to the tournament as honored guests, such as, Mr. Sergio Garcia Alcazar, President of the FIG Aerobic Gymnastics Technical Committee, Mr. Pradhan Dhruba Bahadur, Vice President of the Asian Gymnastics Union, Ms. Tammy Yagi Kitagawa, President of Asian Gymnastics Union Technical Committee.

B.Lhagvajav, President of the Mongolian Gymnastics Federation, has been appointed as head of the tournament's organization committee, Sh.Sharavjamts, Chair of the Physical Education and Sports Development Center--as the organizing committee's deputy head, and  G.Yuruulbat, Secretary of the Mongolian Gymnastics Federation--as the secretary.

Held for the first time in Mongolia, the Asian Aerobic Gymnastics Championships is being sponsored by 20 domestic companies including the Gobi JSC, APU LLC, Urbanek and Tuushin Hotel.
