MFA hosts trilateral meeting

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Mongolia-U.S-Japan trilateral meeting successfully took place on Wednesday in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It was headed by Mongolia and co-chaired by D.Davaasuren, State Secretary of the Mongolian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, L.Stone, First Deputy Head of the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs within the United States Department of Stat, and Kenji Kanasugi, Director-General of the Japanese Foreign Ministry’s Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau.

The parties expressed willingness to strengthen their mechanism of talks with economic, investment, security and defense directions in accordance with common interests. They exchanged views on the relevant issues as well.

The Mongolian side briefed about some changes occurred in the economic and investment environment since the previous meeting in 2015, a present situation of the foreign policy, the current economic cooperation, the policy over Asia-Pacific and Northeast Asian regions, such as, the Ulaanbaatar Dialogue on Northeast Asian Security, as well as the policy within the international cooperation.





The parties also expressed their aspiration to cooperate in the regional security and peacekeeping operations.

Held for the first time in Mongolia, the trilateral meeting has significant importance for Mongolia to share views and consolidate its position with the USA and Japan concerning the political, economic and defense ties, to widen the economic cooperation, and to get involved in the Asia-Pacific regional economic integration. The meeting also gives advantages to Mongolia for boosting the cooperation at the international and regional levels.
