Ceremony held for presenting decree on proclaiming “Day of Mother Language”

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Battulga Khaltmaa, President of Mongolia, has issued his first decree for public and named September 1st as the Day of Mother Language.
The news was published by the Office of the President of Mongolia, Press and Media Department on Wednesday, and a ceremony for presenting the Presidential decree, which was issued on August 25, was held the same day.
Present at the ceremony were Z.Enkhbold, Chief of Staff of the Office of the President and Ts.Khulan, Cultural and Religious Policy Advisor to the President.
At the beginning of the ceremony, D.Munkhbadral, an assistant of the President, sounded the decree.
According to the decree, the President, “while cherishing folk art, traditions, cultural heritages, statehood customs and great history, which are the assurances of national security, and in order to maintain legitimate recordkeeping of state official documents, improve the public’s knowledge about mother language, history and culture, and start the campaign to invoke every citizen’s ability to speak and write in proper Mongolian”.
The decree order to proclaim the Day of Mother Language to be observed on September 1 of each year, to mark the Day of Mother Language on the national level, within all government and non-government organizations, companies and all stages of educational institutions, to implement the following measures, including pursuance of proper standards of written and spoken Mongolian language in recordkeeping of official documentations and appealing the press and media to collaborate through broadcasting TV programs and releasing news and articles that encourage people for proper use of our mother tongue in their everyday life, in the margin of marking the Day of Mother Language, and to task the centralized government administration in charge of educational affairs to dedicate the first academic hour to celebrating the Day of Mother Language by making this academic hour a compulsory hour for receivers of education in all educational institutions, including universities, institutes, vocational training centers, general educations school and kindergartens to learn about Mongolian language, literature, culture and history.

Copies of the Presidential Decree was presented to Yo.Otgonbayar, Vice Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Sports,Sh.Ankhmaa, a Deputy Mayor of Ulaanbaatar, O.Erdenejargal, Head of the Municipal Division of Social Development, G.Bilguudei, Director of Institute of Language and Literature, B.Galaarid, President of the Confederation of Mongolian Journalists, and others.
