Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Young Mongolian actor B.Anand won “New Faces Award” with his role Andrej Tschichatschow in film “Tschick” (also known as “Goodbye Berlin”) on April 27, 2017. Based on the bestselling 2010 novel “Why we took the car” by German author Wolfgang Herrndorf, the film was directed by a famous German film director, screenwriter and producer Fatih Akin.
B.Anand shared his story to the media, saying “Because the casting agency couldn’t find someone for Andrej Tschichatschow’s role, they sent emails everywhere. They were looking for a Mongolian, because Tschick was supposed to be a Mongolian-looking Russian. My dad works at the Mongolian Embassy in Berlin. So eventually the email ended up in my dad’s office and he gave it to me. I read it and ignored it for a while, but after two months, I decided to give it a shot. I finally did everything on the last day, at the last minute”.
"Tschick" is a comedy film about two teenage boys from Berlin going on an adventurous road trip through East Germany during the summer holidays. The film received positive reviews in Germany and was nominated for several awards, such as European Film Awards, German Film Awards and German Critics Association Awards.
The young actor’s first movie definitely won’t be the last, as he received several offers and eager to challenge himself for new projects.
On the side note, the fifth Altan Khalis (Golden Reel) Independent Film Festival will be opened by “Tschick” on June 9 to continue screening on June 10 and 11 at “iCinema” movie theater in Ulaanbaatar. Altan Khalis Independent Film Festival has been known as the first and foremost experimental film festival in Central Asia as Golden Reel International Underground Film Festival for 4 years.
