Buddha Day to be signified with religious procession

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On the occasion of Buddha Day which falls on June 9, Friday, a religious ceremony/procession under the slogan ‘Purification of Soul’ will be organized by Gandantegchenling Monastery on the central square.
The procession will engage representatives of all monasteries in Ulaanbaatar, religious NGOs and the Mongolian faithful.
With Buddha day rituals beginning early Friday morning, the procession will take place at 4.30-6.30PM from Gandan Tegchenling Monastery to the central square where a cultural plus religious program is scheduled.
The cultural plus religious program will begin at 6PM as D.Choijamts, Khamba Lama of Gandantegchenling Monastery and Ulaanbaatar Mayor S.Batbold deliver opening remarks to be followed by chant performances by monks.
Performers and artists including the Morin Khuur Ensemble, long song singer G.Byambasuren, Uvertura group, T.Delgermurun, K.Nominjin and Jonon ethnic group will entertain the gathered Buddhists. In addition, Buddhist teachings on spiritual purification will be delivered to mark the Buddha Day.
