International young leaders' LEAD Summit being held in Ulaanbaatar

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Deputy Foreign Minister B.Battsetseg delivered an opening remarks at the “LEAD Summit” a.k.a Leaders Advancing Democracy, which was commenced on May 03. The event is being held by the collaboration of the U.S. Embassy, International Republican Institute Mongolia, United States Agency for International Development and World Learning organization between May 2 and 5.

As a part of the “LEAD Mongolia”, a U.S. supported program to be implemented in 2016-2018, the summit was attended by 15 young participants from Kyrgyzstan, Bhutan and Myanmar, as well as 30 young Mongolians, who visited the United States, and representatives of Government institutions, NGOs, educational and scientific organisations as participants of the “LEAD Mongolia” program.

Deputy Foreign Minister B.Battsetseg expressed her satisfaction towards the implementation of “LEAD Mongolia” program which was announced during former US Secretary John Kerry's visit to Mongolia and signified Ambassador of the U.S Jennifer Zimdahl Galt’s contribution towards an effective implementation of the program.  Also, B.Battsetseg remarked Mongolia’s friendly relations with Kyrgyzstan, Bhutan and Myanmar and highlighted the importance of the conference in providing opportunity to young participants in exchanging practices, information and views.



“LEAD Mongolia” program is focusing on main themes of environment and urbanization, unemployment, poverty alleviation, transparency and anti-corruption. “LEAD Summit” is a part of the series of events organized within the framework of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the United States.
