Deputy Foreign Minister receives Japanese Ambassador

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On January 11, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs B.Battsetseg received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mongolia Masato Takaoka.

At the beginning of the meeting, Ms. Battsetseg congratulated him on assuming the office of the Ambassador and wished him success.  

Noting that the Japanese assistance and loans have played an important role in laying the foundation of the modern development of Mongolia, Ms Battsetseg affirmed her readiness to cooperate with the newly appointed Ambassador of Japan on expanding the strategic partnership between Mongolia and Japan.  

Afterwards, she pointed out that the Mongolian side is giving a great importance on celebrating the 45th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Japan and working towards the preparation for the celebration activities of this event. Also, the Deputy Minister introduced that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has planned to implement several works in 2017, for example, the continuation and implementation of the Mongolia-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), the signing of a new medium-term program, the progress of the negotiation process on establishing Agreements on avoidance of double taxation and the establishing a dialogue between the government and the private sector.

In turn, Mr Takaoka expressed his satisfaction with his appointment as an Ambassador of Japan to Mongolia and confirmed his readiness to expand the strategic partnership between Japan and Mongolia.
