Winter preparations to start earlier
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The cabinet meeting held Monday discussed the 2016-2017 winter preparation works covering the agricultural sector, and then tasked the Mayor of Ulaanbaatar city, governors of aimags and soums to ensure the preparation works in strict compliance with a plan and to take necessary measures.
The governors were also charged to take actions for preventing diseases of animals, to organize sterilization works and to ensure preparedness of veterinary services.
According to a report of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, summer condition is keeping well in most areas of Khovd, Gobi-Altai, Khovsgol, Bulgan, Orkhon, Selenge, Darkhan-Uul, Tov, Khentii, Dornod and Sukhbaatar aimags, and in some soums of Bayan-Olgii, Uvs, Zavkhan, Arkhangai, Ovorkhangai, Bayankhongor, Omnogobi and Dornogobi aimags, whereras 10% of the country’s territories suffer droughts.
It is expected that some 60 million heads of livestock will overwinter in 2016-2017, the Ministry said.
