Prime Minister meets Finance Minister of Japan
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Prime Minister Ch.Saikhanbileg welcomed intensive development of the Mongolia-Japan relations based on strategic partnership principles and the deepening of the bilateral cooperation at the regional and international arenas at a meeting with Taro Aso, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, taking part in the ASEM Finance Ministers’ Meeting in Ulaanbaatar.
He affirmed that Mongolia attaches a great significance to the strategic partnership relations with Japan under its policy of foreign relations.
Noting that the intergovernmental Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) came into force this month, the Premier said he believes that the EPA would greatly contribute to the bilateral trade and investments.
“I am very happy that 90% of middle-term program on our strategic partnership has been fulfilled at the moment,” said the Premier and put forward proposals to the Japanese side to design the next middle-term program, to consult issues of implementing projects on railways, coal-chemical industry and establishing an industrial cluster.
In turn, Taro Aso thanked the Mongolian Premier for the audience, and said he firstly visited Mongolia in the 1990s. He emphasized Mongolia has developed rapidly, and affirmed his country adheres to a policy on boosting the relations and cooperation with Mongolia.
