Some candidates in 2016 parliamentary elections identified

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ As the General Election Commission (GEC) handed over last week certificates to 11 political parties and coalitions to run for for the upcoming parliamentary elections, the Democratic Party (DP) and the Mongolian People’s Party (MPP) have preliminarily announced names of their candidates in the elections.

According to the preliminary selections, the DP has named its 71 members as candidates to run for the elections in the 76 constituencies in districts of Ulaanbaatar and soums, while the MPP has named 75 persons to compete in the elections. However, the political parties will approve final lists of their candidates at the national consultative meeting and the Conference, respectively.

Besides the candidates from political parties, some 80 independent candidates are expected to run for the 2016 parliamentary elections.
