Council on prevention of earthquake damage meets

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The permanent council for prevention of earthquake disasters held Tuesday its second meeting, discussing outcomes of disaster preparedness and response actions practices and exercises organized on March 24, results of the 2015 action plan implementation and those of the “Gobi Wolf” international exercises.

Secretary of the council Colonel B.Uuganbayar reported that the campaign involved some 700 thousand people nationwide, which indicates an increase against previous years. Now measures have to be taken to place more earthquake alarms in the city districts, to set up and renovate where needed early warning systems for disasters in aimags, he said.

Colonel Uuganbayar pointed out that the “Gobi Wolf” exercises on disaster prevention has been organized for the first time in localities wher its attendees practiced how to receive international aid and organize evacuation.

At the meeting, the council’s secretary Yo.Jargalsaikhan made a presentation about the disaster prevention system of Japan.  Ts.Oyunbaatar, the Deputy Prime Minister and head of the council charged relevant officials to  scrutinize and review realization of some 10 clauses of the council’s action plan which needs more effective approach, and to report thereon at the next meeting.
