Stock trade decreases in first quarter

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In the first quarter of this year, 36.1 million shares were traded valued at MNT 67.3 billion at the Mongolian Stock Exchange (MSE).

The total turnover of the stocks decreased MNT 95.6 billion or 58.7%, whereas a number of purchased securities increased 22.0 million shares or 2.6 times compared to the same period of previous year.

In March of this year, 0.5 million shares were traded valued at MNT 15.7 billion, so the turnover declined by 3.7 billion Togrog or 19.1% against February 2016, and by MNT 35.5 billion or 69.3% against the previous year.

In this period, the number of the shares purchased decreased by 0.4 million or 45.3% against February, and by 0.6 million or 53.9% against the same period of previous year.

At the secondary stock market, total turnover of stock was MNT 21.5 billion in the first three months of this year, showing a decline of MNT 29.8 billion or 58.1% against the period of previous year. It was MNT 1.5 billion in March of this year, indicating a decrease of 4.5 billion or 74.6% against February, and by MNT 1.5 billion or 12.2% against the period of previous year.

In March of this year, the TOP-20 index was 11,191.2, declining by 603.0 units against February, and by 2,325.0 units against the period of previous year.

The total market capitalization was set at MNT 1.3 trillion in March of 2016, decreasing MNT 148.8 billion or 10.3% against February.
