Ts.Tsogtbaatar becomes Mongolian champion in judo

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The 2016 national championship kicked off Friday at the “Khangarid” sports club in Erdenet city.

Contests of men’s -60, -66, women’s -57, -63, -70, -78 and +78 are running on the first day of the tournament.

International master of sports Ts.Tsogtbaatar won a gold medal in the men’s below 60 kg division after beating strong rivals G.Boldbaatar, a 2014 World champion at a preliminary round, and D.Amartuvshin, a silver medalist of the 2013 World Championship at the finals.

Bronze medals went to N.Ser-Od and D.Bayarmagnai.

State Honored Sportswoman and bronze medalist of the 2015 World Championship D.Sumya won in the women’s -57 kg contest, followed by Ts.Khulan, O.Buyankhishig and L.Enkhriilen.

Co-organized by Mongolia’s Judo Federation (MJF), the administration of Orkhon aimag, the Judo Federation of Orkhon aimag and the “Khangarid” club, this year’s national championship has coincided with the 40th anniversary of Orkhon aimag and 20th anniversary of winning the bronze medal by a Mongolian judoka D.Narmandakh at the Atlanta 1996 Olympics.
