One-time action on leather exports takes effect
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ For one month, between January 5 and February 5, the government is allowing exports of raw hides from all kinds of livestock, especially from horse. The resolution was adopted on December 25, considering the bilateral documents inked with foreign countries on the health and quarantine norms for all kinds of hides and leathers.
Monitoring over the resolutions’ implementation and reporting on the results within the first quarter of this year were assigned to the Deputy PM Ts.Oyunbaatar and Minister of Finance B.Bolor.
By statistics, 2.99 million horses were counted at the end of 2014, indicating 14.4-percent oncrease against the previous year. Only 65.4 thousand hides or 29 percent out of the total 222.8 thousand prepared horse hides were exported in 2014, while over 200 thousand horses were slaughtered for food and 90 percent of the hides were exported in 2012-2013, resulting in increased income of livestock herders.
