Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ At its regular meeting of Monday, the cabinet considered that it is suitable to name 2016 a Year of Consumers. This has been motivated by the necessity to realize the United Nations Guidelines on Consumer Protection, the recommendations on responsible consumption and sustainable productions given in accordance with the Sustainable Development document, adopted during the 70th session of the UN General Assembly in 2015, and the objectives toward ensuring consumer’s rights reflected in the Government action plan.

The sustainable development document obligates the parties to formulate a decade plan on consumer protection. In the margin of Consumer’s Year, legal innovations are planned to be made through modifying and amending the Law on Consumer Protection, and the packet of laws concerning the rights of consumers; shaping a national consumer protection system by adopting the Second National Program on Consumer Protection; and regularizing the annual surveys, their assessments and feedbacks on consumer protection status of the country, will be conducted.
