Mongolia comes 2nd in Qingdao Grand Prix

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The national team of Mongolia has won six medals, including two gold, in the Qingdao Grand Prix tournament, which concluded on Sunday in China.

The events attracted 375 judokas frm 59 countries. Mongolia was represented by 19 in men and women’s contests. State Honored Sportsman and Olympic champion N.Tuvshinbayar has grabbed  the gold medal in the men’s -100 bout. He beat his opponentsfrom China, Israel, the Netherlands and Germany. In the final contest, he defeated a 2009 world champion Maxim Rakov from Kazakhstan by two penalties. The second "gold" has been worn by international master of sports S.Sumiya in the women’s under 57kg contest. She defeated all her rivals from Turkmenistan, Japan, Austria and Germany.

D.Tomorkhuleg IMS and world champion M.Urantsetseg grabbed silver medals, in the men’s -66kg and women’s -48kg contests, respectively. O.Uuganbaatar (men’s -81kg) and A.Tsolmon (women’s -52kg) won bronze medals.

By the overall medal standings, Mongolia has become the 2nd after Japan that claimed five gold, one silver and three bronze medals.

Following the Qingdao Grand Prix, the Mongolians will compete in the Jeju Grand Prix and in the Tokyo Grand Slam to be held December 2.
