Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A project on constructing a new sewage plant in Ulaanbaatar city with capability of 250 thousand cubic meter/day will be implemented under a build--operate--transfer concession contract.

A cabinet meeting on Monday decided to add the project to a list of works that must be done with state-run concession, and obliged D.Erdenebat, the Minister of Industry, and S.Javkhlanbaatar, a head of the Investment Authority, to organize a bid for granting the concession.

Built in 1964, the UB central sewage plant urgently needs technological renovation and an extra plant with 250,000 cubic meter/day power. The current plant does not have a system of processing silt and waste silt; heavy metals are dried up outside causing air pollution; due to erosion, the sewage plant spends huge amount of money, some MNT 250 million a month on electricity.
