Prime Minister meets NATO Deputy Secretary-General

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Prime Minister of Mongolia Ch.Saikhanbileg Wednesday received Mr Alexander Vershbow, the Deputy Secretary General of NATO visiting here.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Premier noted the NATO has been contributing to strengthening peace, democracy and international security, and the Mongolia-NATO cooperation is based on common aspiration to fortify the peace and security.

The main purpose of the Mongolia-NATO partnership is to strengthen the mutual understanding through consultations within the mutual interests and cooperation, the Premier said.

Underlining that Mongolia has been contributing to ensuring the global peace and security by participating in the UN peacekeeping operations, Mr Saikhanbileg pointed out Mongolia has joined the NATO program of Partners across the Globe. “Mongolia adopted a program of partnership and cooperation in 2012 with the NATO, and has been collaborating with the NATO in enhancing security, disarmament and enforcing military personnel,” he said.

In turn, Mr Vershbow mentioned the Mongolia-NATO partnership and cooperation program has been implementing successfully, and then expressed willingness to expand the military cooperation with Mongolia. He pointed out the NATO has invited Mongolia to take part in formulating a program on ensuring the security in Afghanistan.

The Premier Mr Saikhanbileg said Mongolia aspires to collaborate with the NATO in exchanging experiences in progressive technologies, military sciences and operations in order to enhance the potential and capability of the state body for ensuring security.
