L.Purevsuren participates in irregular meeting of IDEA Council

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Mongolia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr L.Purevsuren has taken part in the 9th irregular meeting of the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance’s (International IDEA) Council held in Stockholm, Sweden.

He has delivered a speech on ongoing policy and measures of Mongolia on developing the democracy in its region and current projects being implemented in frames of the Mongolian Foundation for International Cooperation (MFIC).

Within the meeting, the Foreign Minister has exchanged views with members of the IDEA in conjunction with upcoming chairmanship of Mongolia for the IDEA in 2016.

In addition, the Foreign Minister has met Mr Yves Leterme, the IDEA Secretary-General, sharing views with him on the institute’s actions, Mongolia’s participation in the institute and priorities of Mongolia for the IDEA’s chairmanship. They have discussed issues of collaborating with the IDEA in establishing a training center in Ulaanbaatar to prepare election observers and on a chance for attracting the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the European Council and the Community of Democracies (CoD) to a project on it.

Afterwards, the Minister has met with his counterpart of Switzerland Mr Didier Burkhalter, discussing issues of the Mongolia-Switzerland cooperation and a course of projects and programs on cooperation development being implemented in Mongolia by Switzerland.

Mongolia has concurred with Switzerland to learn experiences in maintaining the permanent status of neutrality.
