National Committee Agrees to Intensify COP17 Preparation

Ulaanbaatar, October 7, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The
National Committee organizing the 17th Session of the Conference of the Parties
(COP17) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification held its
ninth meeting on October 3, 2025, and reached an agreement on intensifying
preparations.
Participants of the meeting discussed and agreed upon a
consultancy organization for the venue and facilities of COP17, establishing a
contract with a company that submitted a proposal to provide consultancy services
for the organization of COP17, and to ensure the implementation of the Government
Resolution No. 36, adopted in 2025.
Moreover, the National Committee was presented with a
proposal to appoint Members of Parliament Munkhbayasgalan Luvsanbyamba and
Bolormaa Enkhbat as Special Envoys to support the preparation of COP17. The
Members of Parliament appointed as Special Envoys will work to organize the
Conference of the Parties, support policymaking efforts on combating desertification
at the national and international levels, inform international communities,
expand cooperation, and attract funding for the program.
