Ulaanbaatar, June 12, 2023 /MONTSAME/. In the framework of the Forum of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Mongolia, Russia, and China, the Ministry of Road and Transport Development and the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized a transport-logistics investment conference under the theme "New Revival Policy - Road Transport Revival" on June 9.

Opening the event, Minister of Road and Transport Development S. Byambatsogt said, "The Government of Mongolia has defined the "New Revival Policy" within the scope of sustainable development, and focuses on the important role of accelerating blood circulation of the economy and the development of infrastructure. In this policy program, we have reflected on it the ports’ revival to be implemented realistically and effectively. He pointed out that the best step to increase exports and freight traffic is to build a large number of transport and logistics centers and improve competitiveness.

One of the numerous actions planned in the road transport sector is to continue liberalization of the aviation industry stage by stage and create international passenger and cargo hubs in view of the declaration of 2023-2025 as the Years to Visit Mongolia. The Minister underpinned, “In this context, we are working to improve the capacity of local airports and develop four local airports into new international ports for passenger and cargo transportation. We will build three to five airports in the north, south, east, and west of Mongolia. Air carriers are invited to openly participate in this work.”

In the course of the first five months of 2023, approximately 600,000 passengers traveled by air in Mongolia, which means it increased by 2.5 times compared to the same period of the previous year.

As part of the goal of air transport liberalization, expansion of the flight network, and boosting tourism, Mongolia has signed an air relations agreement with Qatar as a starting point for this year's plan to establish an air relations agreement with 10 new countries. In the second half of this year, Mongolia is working to establish air communication agreements with countries such as Kuwait, the United States, Hungary, Greece, Great Britain, Spain, and Latvia.

With the conclusion of these agreements, passengers will have the opportunity to get cheap and comfortable flights to the main hubs of the world's air transport, with no restrictions on direct or shared travel numbers. There are many opportunities in our aviation sector.

“We will cooperate with foreign and domestic investors within the various cooperation scope to realize the above opportunities and goals. Protecting the interests of investors and working for mutual benefits will be not only the main policy of Mongolia, especially in the road transport industry, but our core principle,” emphasized Minister S. Byambatsogt, “Therefore, You can trust that investing in infrastructure, particularly in roads and transportation sector, can be the most promising, most profitable, and risk-free.”
