Z.Mendsaikhan: Agreement on building meat factories will be completed within this year

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. The government will establish regional meat factories in Dornod, Khovd, Bulgan and Arkhangai aimags. These aimags were selected based on its available energy resources, livestock concentration and migration, and transport and logistics. Construction of the factories will be financed from the USD 1 billion soft loan from China and it has a total budget of USD75 million.
The companies that won the tenders have developed the
feasibility study of the factories and submitted to the relevant ministry,
and working groups from Mongolia and China are working to complete the agreement
within this year.
"If the parties reach agreement, we will begin
construction of factories next year, and it is expected to put a model factory into
commission by 2024. The factories will process meat regardless of season
and will have a capacity of vaccinating and feeding 20-30 thousand head of livestock regularly for
meat production. There will be also fodder farms. With the commissioning of factories, the products will be able to be exported and a total
of 2,500 people will be provided with jobs," said Z. Mendsaikhan, Minister
of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry.
