MNT 180 billion budgeted for pay raise of civil servants next year

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. When drafting state budgets for the next year, which has been currently under discussion by parliament, the government has budgeted around MNT 180 billion for the salary increase of employees of the public sector. Minister of Labor and Social Protection S.Chinzorig underlined that the salary raise rate will be increased in line with inflation rate.
“Starting from the January 1, 2020, the government is planning to increase the wages of civil service employees depending on the number of years of their employment in public service and average increase rate is set to be around 10 percent, for which budgeted MNT 150 billion. Also, one-time allowance for civil servants in the fields of culture and environment, will be provided when they reach pension age.
Moreover, the retirement benefit will be raised, adjusting to the inflation rate. Around 41 thousand people were forced to retire early in 1991 and started receiving a low amount of pension benefits from 1996 until today. Therefore, the state budget for next year was projected so that those people are entitled to additional monthly of MNT 50 thousand as pension benefit.
