IM Power proposes to build power plant near major coal mine in Gobi
On May 18, Prime Minister J.Erdenebat received a delegation headed by Mr Gordon Dickie, Managing Director of IM Power, and Ms Catherine Arnold, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of UK to Mongolia. The guests presented their request to build power plant based on Shivee Ovoo coal deposit. The project would cost around USD 1.2 billion. The power plant can be a reliable energy supplier for southern and eastern region of Mongolia, say the delegates.

Government obstacles to businesses to be eliminated legitimately
478 licenses out of 914, that are equired to be obtained by business entities were cancelled to support businesspeople through reducing barriers and red tape and the issue will be improved further by passing a law on Special license, said Minister of Justice and Home Affairs S.Byambatsogt. Today, the minister attended “Business breakfast” organized by Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, sharing his views with businessmen on legal environment of businesses and pressing issues.

Companies employing foreign workers to be reviewed
At the regular meeting of Cabinet held on May 17, Prime Minister J.Erdenebat obliged the Ministry of Justice and Home Affairs and Ministry of Labor and Social Protection to conduct inspection on companies and enterprises in Mongolia, which hire foreign workers and to introduce the inspection results to the cabinet meeting.

On May 17, Ts.Munkh-Orgil, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia met with his counterpart of Thailand, Don Pramudwinai. The foreign ministers discussed a broad range of issues concerning Mongolia-Thailand bilateral relations and they noted the importance of broadening the cooperation in areas of trade, economy and tourism.

The cabinet approved Wednesday the Regulation on Health Check for Army Recruitment. The regulation is to be pursued for examining and determining physical conditions of candidates to military service for definitive and/or permanent period, military academies, universities, colleges and training, as well as to peacekeeping operations.

Renewable energy network to be established between Mongolia and Russia
Prime Minister of Mongolia J.Erdenebat received Oleg Mikhailovich Budargin, the Director General of Russian “Rosseti” LLC on May 16. On behalf of “Rosseti” LLC, Mr. Oleg Mikhailovich Budargin expressed the company’s intention in implementing renewable energy network establishing project. And PM J.Erdenebat agreed upon the request to deploy working group to establish 500W renewable energy network between Mongolia and Russia.

IMF Executive Board to discuss Mongolia's request next Wednesday
The International Monetary Fund Executive Board is scheduled to discuss Mongolia's request to implement Extended Fund Facility (EFF) during its meeting on May 24. Minister of Finance B.Choijilsuren was interviewed on this matter and other issues concerning the EFF program. Has the meeting schedule of the IMF Executive Board been confirmed? Is there a guarantee that the meeting will not be delayed again?
