Mongolia Ranks 74th at 2024 Summer Olympics

Ulaanbaatar, August 12, 2024 /MONTSAME/. After 16 days of intense competition by approximately 10,500 athletes from 206 countries across 32 sports and 48 disciplines, the 2024 Summer Olympics, officially the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad and branded as Paris 2024, concluded on August 11, 2024.
The United States topped the medal table with a total of 126 medals, including 40 gold, 44 silver, and 42 bronze. China followed closely with 40 gold, 27 silver, and 24 bronze medals. Japan secured the third position with 45 medals, comprising 20 gold, 12 silver, and 13 bronze. Notably, Japan clinched 11 of its 20 gold medals in judo and freestyle wrestling, with an exceptional performance in freestyle wrestling, earning eight gold, one silver, and two bronze medals. Australia and host country France rounded out the top five.
A total of 11 countries achieved double-digit gold medal counts at the Paris 2024. While 64 nations secured at least one gold medal, the overall medal tally saw participation from 91 countries. Unfortunately, 105 nations returned home without a medal.
Mongolia fielded a team of 32 athletes to the Olympics. International Master of Sports B. Baasankhuu claimed a silver medal in women's 48 kg judo, propelling Mongolia to the 74th position in the overall medal standings. Additionally, Mongolia secured two fifth-place finishes and three sixth-place finishes in judo, as well as one fifth-place finish and three sixth-place finishes in freestyle wrestling.
