Ulaanbaatar, June 6, 2024 /MONTSAME/. State Secretary of the Ministry of Road and Transport Development of Mongolia S. Batbold and State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia Andris Pelšs signed an Agreement on Aviation Relations between the Government of Mongolia and the Government of the Republic of Latvia on June 5, 2024.

The Agreement creates opportunities to conduct direct flights and develop tourism, allowing Mongolians and foreigners living in Latvia and Northern Europe to fly affordably to Mongolia.

Additionally, Mongolian air carriers will be able to open new flight routes to Northern European countries and expand their flight network under codeshare principles. Furthermore, this will significantly support the development of trade and economic relations and cooperation between the two countries.

Mongolia and Latvia established diplomatic relations in 1991, and the trade turnover between the two countries is USD 2.3 million.

In line with the Mongolian Government's Air Transport Liberalization and the Ministry of Road and Transport Development’s goal of "Affordable Ticket -Accessible Flights," the number of international flight routes and frequencies departing Mongolia has grown to serve 156 destinations in 45 countries.
