Chairman of the General Election Commission Meets the US Ambassador to Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar, March 4, 2024. /MONTSAME/. Chairman of the General Election Commission of Mongolia Delgernaran Purevee met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Mongolia Richard Buangan on February 29, 2024. 

 

Ambassador Richard Buangan said, "The USA and I are very proud that Mongolia serves as an international model for conducting democratic, free, and open elections." The Ambassador emphasized the significant role of the Committee in organizing elections at a high standard. Ambassador Buangan expressed the US Embassy’s eagerness to monitor the upcoming Parliamentary Elections of Mongolia.

 

Chairman of the General Election Commission Delgernaran expressed gratitude to the Embassy for the cooperation in exchange of experiences, monitoring the elections of the two countries, and supply of equipment. Giving information on the preparations for Mongolia's upcoming elections, Mr. Delgernaran noted that embassies in Mongolia, international organizations, and foreign observers would have the full opportunity to watch the elections of the State Great Khural of Mongolia.

 

The Ambassador highlighted that the upcoming elections would be historic due to the amendments to the Constitution of Mongolia. Mr. Richard Buangan clarified the challenges facing the Commission and the parties exchanged views on developing their cooperation further.

 

Chairman P. Delgernaran expressed his willingness to cooperate in observing US election regulations at the federal level, exchanging experiences, receiving technology support, and empowering experts. In turn, Ambassador Richard Buangan expressed commitment to fully supporting these issues.
