Mongolia receives 11th batch of Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On August 25, Mongolia received 113,490 doses of Pfizer/BioNTech (BNT162) vaccines in the framework of the ‘COVID-19 pandemic and Public Health Emergency Capacity Building Project’. 


The procurement of the vaccines are funded through non-refundable aid from the Government of Japan. More specifically, the project is being implemented by UNICEF in Mongolia, and a total of 255,060 doses were received in the second quarter of this year. Out of 1,124,370 doses of COVID-19 vaccines planned to be supplied through the project in the third quarter, 790,920 doses have been received so far. The rest are planned to be delivered in the coming month as scheduled.


In connection with the decision to allow schools to reopen for the new academic year, children aged 12-17 are currently being administered with Pfizer vaccines on a voluntary basis with the permission of their parents and guardians.
