Government planning to vaccinate children aged 12 -17 ahead of new school year

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Ministry of Education and Science once called upon launching a study on administering coronavirus vaccine to children and informed that trials of COVID-19 vaccines developed by companies such as Pfizer and Moderna had shown efficacy.

When clarified about the vaccination of school children, Minister L.Enkh-Amgalan said that the corresponding officials are studying WHO-approved vaccines that can be used in children. A working group consisting of the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Health is now working on the immunization issues of children aged between 12 and 17 ahead of the new academic year." 

Making changes in the structure of academic year 2020-2021, the Ministry of Education and Science recently has made a decision to start summer breaks of schools and kindergartens ahead of the scheduled period. In particular, the summer break for 1st-3rd graders began on May 8 and 4th-12th graders will be beginning from May 15. As the summer holiday has begun earlier, the Ministry is planning to start the academic year 2021-2022 on August 15.
