Mongolian commemorative coin wins international award

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. The commemorative coin of Mongolia ‘Tsagaan Uul’ (Edelweiss) won 3rd place award in the category of ‘Best artistic solution’ of the 14th international coin contest - Coin Constellation 2020. The ‘Tsagaan Uul’ coin weighs 31.1 grams and has a diameter of 33 mm.



In total, 26 central banks and mints from 17 countries competed in nine categories with their more than 200 commemorative coins, issued in 2019.


In the 13th Coin Constellation 2019, the Mongolian franchise coin ‘Velociraptor’ of the series of prehistoric beasts took third place in the Best Technology category of the contest. The ‘Velociraptor’ coin, first in this series, has a diameter of 65 mm and a weight of 93.3 grams.  



Earlier, more commemorative coins of the country received international awards. For instance, silver coin ‘Wolverine’ (2007) won ‘Coin of the Year’ and ‘Best silver coin of the Year’ awards from ‘Krause Publications’ world money fair in Berlin in 2009, and silver coin ‘Wolf’ (2012) received several awards, namely ‘Coin of the year’ and ‘Original technology’ from 8th international coin contest held in Moscow, ‘The Best coin of the world- World Most Original Format Coin’ from the Royal Mint of Spain in 2014 and ‘Most innovative coin’ from ‘Krause Publications’ world money fair in Berlin in 2015.
