Ulaanbaatar reports 16 new cases of coronavirus

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/.  The daily briefing of the Ministry of Health has provided the latest update on the COVID-19 situation in Mongolia as of January 24, Sunday. 


A total of 12,848 coronavirus PCR tests have been made since yesterday and detected 16 new positive cases, according to the National Center for Communicable Diseases. 


In particular, 9 people living in a multi-family residential apartment in Ulaanbaatar city’s Bayanzurkh District were diagnosed to have contracted the virus. In connection with this, more than 1,000 people from 400 household families are currently undergoing surveillance testing. 

 

The remaining 7 new cases are found to be close contacts of previously-confirmed COVID-19 patients and have been under precautionary isolation. 


As of January 24, there are 1,627 confirmed cases of coronavirus nationwide, and 1,124 of them are related to various clusters of infections, most of which has been contained down. 


The capital city of Ulaanbaatar has now registered 798 cases. 70.6 percent of total confirmed patients countrywide or 1,149 people have been already recovered.
