Bogd Khaan Palace Museum: Undur Gegeen Zanabazar’s Mantle

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. This mantle was presented to the First Bogd Undur Gegeen Zanabazar as a gift from Enkh-Amgalan Khaan (Kangxi Emperor) of the Qing Dynasty. Made by an unknown handicraftsman, the mantle tracing back to the 17th century is made with black fox fur, silk, pearls, and coral. 


Passed down for generations, the mantle was made with the fur of 80 black foxes, and decorated with 61 corals and 800 pearls.
