Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Mongolian silk applique was at the peak of its development during the period from the 19th century to the early 20th century.

Made by famous artists of the time, the works were created at a high level of composition, design, and craftsmanship. It was common for artists to first draw the lineart, and use silk and brocade in creating it, which makes them look as colorful as a painting.

Silk applique works are a clear example of how traditional artistic thinking and craftsmanship were utilized in religious arts.
