Protoceratops hatchling fossil

Umnugobi /MONTSAME/. A fossil of a baby Protoceratops /P. andrewsi/ is one of the unique exhibits of Umnugobi aimag museum. This herbivorous dinosaur is considered to have lived about 80 million years ago, during the Upper Cretaceous Period. It was found in 2018 from Togrogiin Shiree, Bulgan soum of Umnugobi aimag.

The hatchling processed with the base soil is displayed at the museum. Its head is bent upwards, the torso is rounded, lying down, and it has 20 teeth. Its femur length is 16cm, tibia - 15cm, paw - 6cm, and horn -25cm.
