COVID-19: 18 new cases reported

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. 18 new COVID-19 cases detected in Mongolia after 9070 tests performend nationwide yesterday, December 17.
The newly confirmed cases were detected from the oubreak of the Central Hospital of Bayanzurkh district. Head of Surveillance Department of the NCCD A.Ambaselmaa informed, “The cases confirmed from the Central Hospital of Bayanzurkh district reached 20. The initial confirmed cases live in the neighborhood where the infection had occurred, and there is a high probability that the source of the infection originated from that area. However, it is not confirmed yet and the surveillance is still ongoing. 645 close and indirect contacts of those infected with the virus had been traced and 266 of them have been put under isolation. Currently, 469 of them tested negative. Moreover, 379 people, including doctors, staff and patients have been placed under isolation at the hospital”.
As of today, the total COVID-19 cases in Mongolia have reached 941, with 473 recoveries. Currently, 459 people are undergoing treatment at the hospitals.
No new infections were recorded in Darkhan-Uul, Orkhon, Gobisumber and Arkhangai aimags in the past 24 hours. The total locally acquired cases have reached 488; Ulaanbaatar – 163, Selenge - 216, Darkhan-Uul - 45, Orkhon - 25, Gobisumber - 4, Dornogobi -32, and Arkhangai -3.
