Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/.  On September 7, Chief of the Cabinet Secretariat of Government L. Oyun-Erdene met with Head of Cooperation, Swiss Cooperation and Consular Agency in Mongolia Ph.D Stefanie Burri.

The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) has been implementing significant projects and programs in many sectors in Mongolia for more than 20 years. Mongolia’s Government supports the agency's ongoing 15 projects and programs, in particular in the areas of strengthening governance, agriculture, food security and vocational education, said Mr.Oyun-Erdene.

“Among the SDC projects and programs in Mongolia, projects towards strengthening governance and increasing leadership seem to be the most realistic and fruitful that cannot be expressed in monetary terms. We are willing to collaborate to implement the goals stated in the Government's action plan for the next four years. In the coming years, the government plans to implement 187 major projects and the formulation of the feasibility studies is intended to be done in the next two years. Feasibility study of any project is the most important. As Switzerland is one of the most experienced countries in this area, the Cabinet Secretariat of Government is ready to cooperate in all aspects,” said Mr. Oyun-Erdene.

At the meeting, the sides also frankly discussed the major activities implemented by the Government in the past and further necessary projects to be jointly implemented in Mongolia.

Ph.D Stephanie Burry said that the SDC is interested in developing new equal partnership with the Government of Mongolia over the next four years as well as expanding existing projects and programs.

The Cabinet Secretariat of Government and the SDC agreed to cooperate in the fields of implementing the objectives set out in the Government Action Plan 2020-2024, in particular digitizing public services and improving ethics of public servants within ‘E-Mongolia program’, decentralizing Ulaanbaatar, reducing traffic congestion, reducing air pollution, and improving local governance.
