Mongolia selected as a member of Bureau of ESCAP Committee on Statistics for 2020-2022

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. The seventh session of the ESCAP Committee
on Statistics took place on 26-28 August as a virtual meeting. Mongolian
delegation headed by Deputy Chairperson of National Statistics Office Ch.
Bayanchimeg together with Ambassador and Permanent Representative to ESCAP,
Embassy of Mongolia in Bangkok A. Tumur and Counsellor and Deputy Permanent Representative
to ESCAP S. Davaadash took part in the virtual meeting.
Delegations of more than 40 countries and over 200 representatives
of UN system organizations and international organizations attended the Committee
session.
The Committee session discussed matters of strategic
importance to regional statistical development, regional cooperation and the
formulation of regional positions to advance official statistics in line with
existing commitments, including the ‘Collective Vision and Framework for
Action by the Asia-Pacific statistical community’ adopted by the
Committee in 2016 and the Declaration on Navigating Policy with Data to Leave
No One Behind adopted by the Commission in 2019.
Mongolian delegation expressed positions on agendas, in
particular the improvement of statistics on gender, civil registration and ordinary
movements.
During the session, elections of members of the Bureau of
ESCAP Committee on Statistics took place. Mongolia’s National Statistics Office
was chosen as a member of the Bureau for 2020-2022.
