Health Minister obliges officials to fully ensure preparedness for seasonal flu

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. In aims of improving the accessibility of health care assistance and services, taking cautionary measures against the seasonal flu and flu-like illnesses and ensuring preparedness during the time of the pandemic, Minister of Health T.Munkhsaikhan held a meeting with the executives of state and district hospitals on August 28.
In the framework of the preparatory measures being taken for the seasonal flu and flu-like illnesses that are expected to surface in large numbers from October, a decision has been made to partner with private entities in increasing district hospitals’ bed capacity and placing additional beds if it would be necessary.
Officials reported that over 100 thousand citizens were involved in vaccinations in 2019, including those in high risk, pregnant women, kindergarten children, and people voluntarily vaccinated, while orders have been placed for 394 thousand citizens in 2020.
The minister obliged the officials to fully ensure preparedness for the spread of seasonal flu and flu-like illnesses, and efficiently promote cautionary measures and recommendations to the public. The Ministry of Health has planned to provide flu vaccinations for 1.3 million citizens this year.
