MP S.Byambatsogt meets UN Resident Coordinator

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ On April 10, MP and head of the Standing Committee on State Structure S.Byambatsogt met with the UN Resident Coordinator in Mongolia Mr.Tapan Mishra.


At the beginning, MP S.Byambatsogt said, “When Mongolian Parliament adopted the Constitutional amendments on November 14, 2019, a provision saying “Development policy and planning of Mongolia shall be stable” was included in the amendment. In this regard, a revised bill on development policy and planning has been submitted and is expected to be discussed next week. It will be passed during this spring session.  In the bill, development policy and planning mechanisms, structures and rights and duties of stakeholders have been cleared up in detail, alongside the revision of its name into ‘the Law on Development Policy and Planning and its Management’. These days, Mongolian parliament has discussed whether ‘Vision-2050’ policy document would be considered or not. We greatly appreciate to the proposals on ‘Vision-2050’ policy document, contributed by the UN organizations. We are carefully considering the proposals.”




For his part, Mr. Tapan Mishra said, “An approval of ‘Vision-2050’ policy document is essential. In particular, it is important to clarify whether government policies are positively affecting vulnerable groups.”  


During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on sustainable development policy, documents and the impact of novel coronavirus pandemic on the society and economy.
