Mongolia-China scientific cooperation to expand

/MONTSAME/ As a part of his visit to the People’s Republic of China, Minister
of Education, Culture, Science and Sports Yo.Baatarbileg held a meeting with Chinese
Minister of Science and Technology Wang Zhigang.
At the
meeting, Minister Yo.Baatarbileg expressed views on bilateral scientific cooperation,
collaborating in carrying out a feasibility study on the establishment of a
science park, increasing collaborative research activities between the two
countries, technology transfer and incubator centers, cooperating at a new
level in encouraging start-ups, and conducting collaborative archaeological
research in accordance with the intergovernmental memorandum of cooperation signed
in the field this year.
It was mentioned at the meeting that the Mongolia-China Joint Laboratory of Applied Molecular Biology was established in 2015 and that specific projects and training courses launched this year under the memorandum signed between Mongolian Science and Technology Fund and National Natural Science Foundation of China in 2017. The Joint Laboratory of Applied Molecular Biology is one of the 14 laboratories that complied with requirements set forth by the Belt and Road Science, Technology and Innovation Cooperation Action Plan and the Special Plan on Advancing Cooperation of Science and Technology Innovation in the Belt and Road Construction.
In addition,
the Mongolian Minister proposed setting up a joint laboratory to
prevent desertification and environmental degradation which are becoming pressing
issues for Mongolia and the region and implementing scientific projects under the
Mongolia-Russia-China Economic Corridor Program.
Voicing his
views about developing innovation and technology in the two countries
in line with global
technological developments, training personnel, and encouraging collaborative
projects of scholars, Minister Wang Zhigang undertook to support his Mongolian
counterpart’s proposals.
