Indian Ambassador reports results of Mongolian President’s state visit to India

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On September 30, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Mongolia M.P. Singh delivered a report on the recent state visit paid by the President of Mongolia Kh.Battulga to India. At the beginning of the report, he expressed his satisfaction with the visit, during which the two countries agreed to strengthen the Strategic Partnership between Mongolia and India. 


“In the course of the state visit, which settled a number of issues concerning bilateral cooperation between Mongolia and India, India received and approved the request forwarded by the Government of Mongolia to issue additional loan of USD 236 million for the oil refinery project, which is currently being implemented with the USD 1 billion loan from the Indian Government” the Indian Ambassador underlined. 


He further remarked the decision to train Mongolian engineer and technical employees under the scholarship of the Indian Government within the framework of the project, which is deemed as a major contribution to the Mongolian energy security and economic growth. 


When asked about his knowledge on the development of the oil refinery project in Dornogobi aimag, the Ambassador said, "I have visited the construction site twice to review the development progress. The infrastructure works are more than 90 percent complete and I am confident that development project will conclude on time”. “India's Minister of Petroleum is set to visit Mongolia in the near future and will get acquainted with the development of the oil refinery" he added. 


The Indian Ambassador also emphasized that as a result of the visit of the Mongolian President, Mongolian visa becomes available for the citizens of India on arrival at the airport as well as Mongolian civil aviation company Hunnu Air is testing a direct flight to India. “Another positive news delivered from the visit is an establishment of an industrial training center in Mongolia”. 


At the end of his report, the Ambassador informed that a wreath-laying ceremony to Mahatma Gandhi Statue in Ulaanbaatar city as well as launch event of a postage stamp at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia will be organized on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of the Indian political and spiritual leader Mahatma Gandhi, which falls on October 2 of this year.
